MCA Code of Practice Surveys

Since December 2023 Workboat Code 3 and more recently the Sports and Pleasure vessel Code have changed the certification regime for small commercial vessels in the United Kingdom.

We are authorised examiners of several certifying authorities to carry out coding surveys on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

These updated codes provide a framework for all Commercial vessel certification and cover construction standards, equipment carried, areas of operation, crewing qualifications and safety management. These updates are the biggest changes to the industry since the codes were originally written and came into force in 1990’s.

Our surveyors provide expert well grounded advice backed up by extensive knowledge provided within our survey packages. Our surveyors are specialists who carry out many surveys each year as well as having operated such vessels extensively in the past in previous seagoing careers.
