Our Founder 1947-2024
Mark set up Dorset Marine Surveys in 1997 and, as the Principal Surveyor, Mark brought the experience of over 50 years of surveying and work on vessels of all sizes.

Damian Lockie
Managing Director/Principal Surveyor
With over 20 years as a seagoing captain then further years in shoreside management positions, Damian can draw on his vast experience to provide a systematic approach to all surveys.
- 10 Years as a Part-Time Surveyor and a Further 7 Years Full-Time
- In 2019 Damian was Awarded a Diploma in Marine Surveying
- Member of the Nautical Institute
- Authorised Examiner for MCA Coding Surveys
- ISM Lead Auditor

Neil Lockie
Small Vessel Surveyor
An early introduction to boats in the distant tropical land and waters of Papua New Guinea, be it rowing boats, outrigger canoes or scuba diving at 10 years old. These unique life experiences allowed Neil to develop a love of the sea and all things boating and shipping.
Neil has spent a lifetime on and around boats and in his early working life, he trained as a boatbuilder/repairer, specialising in GRP construction and repair along with designing and building surfboards. He also has to date, over 30 years of experience at sea, starting out on fishing vessels, and then 25 years spent as a tugboat and workboat captain. During his time as captain working on some major construction and other prestigious projects throughout the UK northern Europe and further afield Neil has also undertaken a handful of major bare-bones refits on vessels he was also involved with. More recently he has spent leave periods while not at sea carrying out surveys and refitting his own, rescued from the breakers, sailing yacht, single-minded, in preparation for a voyage of a lifetime.
